What Dr. Martínez Treats

A personal approach to patient care

Functional medicine looks at the whole system — not just the symptom that finally got loud enough to be named.

Energy & Fatigue

Chronic tiredness, afternoon crashes, waking up exhausted after eight hours. When rest isn't restoring you, something upstream is the reason.

Hormones & Metabolism

Perimenopause, thyroid dysfunction, PCOS, low testosterone, and weight that won't move no matter what you try.

Digestive Health

Bloating, IBS, reflux, and food sensitivities you've learned to live with. Most plans stop at the trigger — she looks at the microbiota behind it.

Brain & Mental Health

Brain fog, focus issues, and mood swings that have a biological piece behind them — not just a stress label.

Sleep

Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up rested. She looks at sleep hygiene and rhythm alongside your labs — not just how many hours you got.

Inflammation & Autoimmune

Joint pain, autoimmune flares, and low-grade inflammation that lingers. She finds what the immune system is still reacting to.

How She Works

Key factors that influence treatment outcomes

01

An in-depth medical consultation

Dr. Luciana starts with a complete conversation — well beyond the usual checkup. Your full history, but also your lifestyle, your stress, your emotions. The context most labs never capture.

02

Advanced labs and testing

Standard bloodwork checks the basics. She orders the panels that look at hormones, nutrients, and metabolic markers beyond your standard blood test — fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, cortisol curves, microbiota, and more.

03

A customized plan for you

From there she builds a plan around your case: nutrition changes, exercise guidelines, supplementation, and sometimes other regenerative therapies like exosomes or plasma exchange. Not the textbook version of you — the actual one.

04

She works closely with you

A protocol on paper fixes nothing alone. She and the TRYBE team stay with you, adjusting the plan until you find your balance. The follow-up is part of the plan, not an afterthought.

What to Expect

Your first consult with Dr. Luciana

1

She starts with your full history, not just your chart.

Your timeline, stress, sleep, and gut — treated as connected, not separate boxes. The conversation most checkups skip.

2

She orders labs that match what you're dealing with.

Not a generic panel. The markers tied to your actual symptoms — cortisol curves, fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, microbiota, vitamins, and more.

3

You leave with a plan, not a pamphlet.

Nutrition, supplementation if it's warranted, and steps you actually understand. Nothing vague.

4

The follow-up is part of the plan.

Functional medicine works alongside your regular care. She stays in the loop with you between visits — adjusting until you find your balance.

Before You Book

Questions patients actually ask

My doctor says it's stress. My labs are normal. What else is there?

One morning cortisol draw doesn't show the full picture. We test it across the day, plus ferritin, B12, vitamin D, and fasting insulin. We also ask about your lifestyle, mood, and relationships. We don't stop at the usual checklist.

Can normal fasting glucose miss insulin resistance?

Yes, often for years. Fasting insulin and HOMA-IR catch what glucose alone hides.

Why does everything I eat upset my stomach?

Most plans stop at "avoid the trigger foods." Few doctors look at your microbiota. We test it and build a plan to restore it, since an imbalance there is often the reason nothing has worked.

Why does a normal endoscopy still miss SIBO?

An endoscopy checks tissue. SIBO is a bacteria problem. Breath and stool testing catch it.

Why am I tired all the time?

It's a common question with several possible causes. Most doctors never ask about your sleep itself. We look at your sleep hygiene and rhythm alongside your labs — not just how many hours you got.

Why do I wake up at 3am every night?

Usually cortisol timing or a blood sugar dip. Both are testable and treatable.

Do I have to travel to Costa Rica?

No. U.S. patients are treated by telehealth. Patients in Costa Rica can choose in-person or telehealth visits. Advanced therapies do require being in Costa Rica.

What does it cost?

The first visit with our functional medicine doctor is $150. Labs, treatment, supplements, and medication depend on your case.

How long before I feel different?

Energy and sleep, usually two to three months. Hormones and digestion take a bit longer. Small changes often show up in the first month. This is teamwork: we build the plan, you follow it.
